Yes, I’m a bit slow on updating my blog lately.. My apologies. But here’s a couple photos from this years Fete de la musique in Paris. This street was PACKED with people dancing to the drums with onlookers from up above.

The Shoes

Wednesday night the Olympia filled with Parisian hipsters anxiously waiting to see The Shoes. After being forced to check my cameras upon entering, we discovered the queue for the bar stretched up the stairs. We took a quick peek inside the salle to see the opening band’s last song. Pas mal. Then we set out on a mission for drinks. After waiting and waiting, a mec gentil suggested that we order our drinks together in order to avoid the overdue waiting game. Bon idée! Finally we had ourselves some beverages and headed into the show.  The crowd cheered, the lights flashed and the four drummers began to play. The energy was incredible and soon everyone was dancing. (Which is a feat if you’ve ever been to a show in Paris, because Parisians rarely dance.) And as good as The Shoes music is on their record, it doesn’t compare to the live performance which is just incredible. The floor bounced to the rhythm of our feet and balloons danced in the air. It was definitely one of the best shows that I’ve been to in Paris and would highly recommend seeing the band if you get the chance!

Here are a few photos from the night, grace à Romain’s iPhone

And here’s a little taste of what it’s all about. Yum.

How Many Times?

Boys and Girls, the time has come.
Animal Collective has finally released some new tunes. Okay, I understand that not everyone loves Animal Collective… In fact, I find that you either love them or hate them.
I LOVE them.
However, I have friends that refer to it as “la musique de drogue” to which I say…  so?
Take a listen to the new song and tell me what you think.

And because it was a year ago this month that I saw Animal Collective play in Paris with my dear Aimée, here’s a little photo of rememberance…
Tu me manques.

It’s a Mirah Monday!

When it comes to music, there’s one thing that you should know…
I love female artists, one of my favorite being Mirah. She’s got such a sweet and tender voice and an amazing stage presence. I saw her back in 2009 at Kilby Court in Salt Lake City, and lets be honest… I fell a little bit in love.

And for those of you who aren’t familiar with this lovely lady, here’s a song to check out!
